On Tuesday, July 30, Leonard Engelman was elected vice president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by the academy’s Board of Governors. Also elected were Cheryl Boone Isaacs as president, John Lasseter as first vice president, Jeffrey Kurland as vice president, Dick Cook as treasurer and Phil Robinson as secretary.

Each officer’s term is for one year, and each may serve a maximum of four consecutive years in any one office. Officer candidates must be sitting governors. Engelman will also continue to serve as one of three governors for the academy’s Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch. He has two years left in his three-year term as a branch governor and will be eligible for re-election after taking one year off.

The new position took effect immediately.

“We expect to be very busy in many areas of the running and governing of the academy, which now of course also includes the Motion Picture Museum,” Engelman said of his new job. “It should be a very exciting and busy year. I am really looking forward to it.”
