“The transition to online-only will allow for more flexibility in ordering, and an increased number of collaborations with other local businesses.”

After 23 years in business on SW Broadway in downtown Portland, Jane’s Vanity is closing the doors to its physical shop and opening the doors to something bigger — the store will transition to an online-only presence with capsule collections placed in a variety of storefronts locally and beyond. The last day to shop at the storefront on SW Broadway will be July 28th 2013.

This Portland institution will continue to offer its unique, hand-culled wares to clients in the Portland area and beyond through it’s online store, located at www.janesvanity.com, as well as through rotating capsule collections hand-selected and placed in a variety of different retail locations. The shop will also be hosting and participating in a higher number of events around the Portland area, including trunk shows, fashion shows, and private parties. The first of these events is planned for late September, and is a trunk show for London-based designer Lucile, exclusively stocked in the United States by Jane’s Vanity.

“The decision to close the doors to the physical shop was a difficult one, but in the wake of a tough retail economy and an increase in corporate big-box stores in downtown Portland, it seemed the best way to preserve the quality and integrity of merchandise stocked,” said Emily Tate.

Jane’s Vanity will continue to carry the same exclusive European designers they always have, and also looks forward to seeking out new designers to stock at the European markets. The transition to online-only will allow for more flexibility in ordering, and an increased number of collaborations with other local businesses.

Clients interested in updates and news during this transition are encouraged to sign up for the email list (www.janesvanity.com/pages/contact) and follow the shop on Facebook (www.facebook.com/janesvanity). The shop is excited to be able to offer free shipping from www.janesvanity.com to Portland residents, as well as the convenience of a “personal shopper” feature that will aid in selecting the perfect item to purchase.
